The Tomato - Eggplant Salad Experiment
Preparation: 1. Toast bell peppers (1 green and 1 red) for about ten minutes. After, set aside and let cool, then peel skin and chop into squares. 2. Limasawa Island: A Historical Tour
I’ve only read about Ferdinand Magellan and his expeditions in history books. After 25 years of existence, I had the chance to come face to face with the First Cross planted in Philippine soil, by Magellan himself. This was one of the main reasons why I wanted to visit Limasawa. Aside from the beautiful beach and the crazy awesome natural resources, I wanted to get in touch with history. On...

Sea Urchin Fiesta: Fine Dining in Limasawa
You know how sometimes, as a traveller, you wish that you get to experience something other tourists haven’t? I guess I’m a lucky girl. I got to witness a bit of Limasawa culture! :D Sea urchins galore!!!When we saw some local men holding spears and tongs with pails in the ocean, I thought they were catching something else. What a surprise when I found out they were getting sea...

Tangkaan Beach: Catching The Sun
Waiting for the sunrise is one of my favorite things to do. Despite the fact that I am not a morning person, I somehow manage to wake up at 5am when I am in the beach. (My boss will kill me if he finds out as this is one of my best kept secrets. Hihi.) And watching the sun slowly come up while standing on a rock formation, is one of my best memories so far.Welcome to Tangkaan Beach, Padre Burgos...

The Return: Canigao Island Again
Hanging out in Canigao Island, Matalom, Leyte. Signature shot! Yey! :) To kick off my island hopping adventure during the Holy Week break, a few GK friends and I went to Canigao Island after the Bayanihan closing ceremonies. Although I’ve been to this island like, N times, the experience is always different because of who I come here with. Meet Zai, Karl, the moon, Sikay, and Matyu. :) We...

We Can All Be Heroes: The Bayani Challenge 2013
You know how the concept of becoming a hero is limited to having superpowers? As a kid, that’s what I thought. I often wished for the ability to freeze time so I could stop anything bad from happening. But as I grew older, I realized that we don’t need superpowers to become a hero. We can all be heroes. Originally, I had no team. I registered alone. Thankfully, both Roy and Jedee, were...

One Step At A Time: The Save Cancabato Bay...
Waking up at 4am is not my thing. Everybody who knows me, know that. I only wake up at that ungodly hour for special reasons. A plane ride, a run, or a  street feeding program. Last March 16, I had another special reason.I woke up to be part of the first Cancabato Bay beach clean up, spearheaded by the Save Cancabato Bay Movement. (One advantage that I work for the City Government is I am privy to...

A Meaningful Saturday: Jamming with the Shelter...
If you’ve been a follower of my blog for a while now, you will know that I have a special place in my heart for the children at the Tacloban Women’s Shelter. Last week, my boss and I dropped by to have lunch with them. As always, it is both heartbreaking and heart warming. Here’s Wilmer looking super excited at the bowl of chocolate candies! He didn’t smile much when he...

Higatangan Island: Solitude Is Bliss
Unplanned trip is an understatement. I decided I wanted to go to Higatangan the night before I left, and good thing that the resort’s website was updated, so when I texted the owners if they had available rooms, they immediately replied. And by that time, I was like, “Yeah I’m so going.” And I did not regret it for one bit. :) This is the sight that greeted me when I...

The Davao Weekend: Beautiful Malagos Garden Resort
A bit of a drive from Davao City proper but it was worth it! It’s one of the nicest places I’ve been to. Really. :) The interactive bird show, the gardens, the different animals, the food, and the lovely lovely trees. I took my now signature, travel hanging shot, in Malagos! :D  More photos of Malagos gardens and the adorable birds after the jump! :) [[MORE]] He doesn’t look...

The South Korea Experience: The Touristy Part
Well, it was bound to happen at some point wasn’t it? Lol. After Welli Hill, before going back to our hotel, we dropped by Gyeong Bok Gung Palace for a little bit of sight seeing and photo ops! So yeah, this will more or less be a photo post because I didn’t learn much about the palace and its history any way. The guards right before entering the palace:It was really cold so I still...

The South Korea Experience: SNOW!!!
If you’re from the Philippines, you will understand why the title is like that. The idea of snow is exciting for anyone from my country and  I always wondered what snow would feel like, they look so nice in photos…so I immediately grabbed the opportunity to pose in them even if it was late at night and temperature was at its lowest. (Not the best move. Lol.)They are pretty but so...

The South Korea Experience: Shopping, Bibimbap,...
When I travel, the last thing on my to do list, is shopping. I only do that when I want to buy souvenirs but this time, I just couldn’t resist! It was the “Great Korea Sale” when I was in Seoul! (The same thing happened in Singapore, I was there during the Singapore Sale. What a coincidence!) Everybody who knows me, know that I am a sucker for deciduous trees. So when I found...

The South Korea Experience: Coffee Shops and...
Since I am done with the “official” stuff we had to do during the exchange, it’s time for me to blog about all the touristy stuff I did in Seoul. ^_^ The 3 hour flight to Seoul wasn’t tiring since the in flight movies were AWESOME and service was great. (Korean Air, ftw!!!) I preferred to just have coffee instead of the full meal they offered. (Plus white wine, plus juice,...

ASEAN - Korea Youth Square : Food and Music...
For day 4, we had the highlight of the program which was the cultural show held at CoEX mall. I am not a dancer so you guys can imagine my nervousness. (My co-delegates gave me a 32 second dance solo. Whuuut.) But I was like, “Fine, it’s not like anybody knows who I am here.” Haha. This is Lark and Raffy, in the traditional barong and baro’t saya. I wore the Mindanao...

14th ASEAN-Korea Future Oriented Youth Exchange...
When the National Youth Commission sent me the acceptance letter to this program, I was overjoyed! After several weeks of preparing for the trip (shopping for clothes, emailing co-delegates, and submitting Visa requirements) I flew to Korea last January 23.After the 3 hour flight to Seoul via Korean Air (best airline I’ve flew in, ever!) we were met by Korean participants at the arrival...
